About the Author
It is my strong conviction that truth exists and can indeed be known.  I also strongly believe that the postmodern trend to either deny the existence of absolute truth or deny that it can be known is extremely dangerous and wrong.  Thus this site is a response to both the secular acceptance of postmodernism and its resulting relativism as well as the invasion of postmodernism in the church.
This site is set up with three main sections.  First, I try to answer the question, "What should we believe?"  Second, I answer, "Why should we believe this?"  Finally, you will find sermons from Lyndon Christian Church.  Hopefully these tools will lead you to think more deeply and pursue Truth.
Truthcanbeknown.com is designed and run by Rich Hoyer. I am a graduate of the Cincinnati Bible Seminary.  My desire to study theology culminated in an M.A. in Religion with a Concentration in Theology.  Systematic theology, apologetics, and philosophy are some of my main interests when it comes to study.  I am currently Senior Minister at Lyndon Christian Church in Louisville, KY.  You can email me at rich at richhoyer.com.

All of us are sinners.  If you have ever told a lie, mistreated someone, disobeyed your parents, or cheated on a test, you have sinned.  In fact these are just merely a few of the sins that we commit.  We all look morally good when we compare ourselves to Adolf Hitler or Saddam Hussein.  Yet how well do we compare to Jesus?  Unfortunately our sins have earned us punishment and act as a barrier to keep us from entering heaven when we die.  For our sins, each us us has earned the punishment of hell (Romans 6:23a).  We cannot claim ignorance since God has built into each us a basic understanding of right and wrong.  We cannot claim that our environment caused us to do it since God has given us free will.  We cannot cover over our sins with good works because being good cannot erase our sins.
What is the Solution to Our Problem?
The good news is that there is hope.  God loves us inspite of our sins (Ephesians 2:1-9).  He wants each of us to live in paradise in heaven with Him forever; and He has given us the ability to choose His path of salvation in place of our own sinful paths (John 3:16).  Thus God sent Jesus to die on the cross and, by doing so, suffer the punishment that we deserve.  We can benefit from what Jesus did for us if we will choose to believe in Jesus Christ for our salvation
(Romans 5:8-10; 1 Peter 3:18).  Belief does not merely mean to agree that the message is true.  Biblical belief involves obedience to Jesus Christ.  Thus to receive the gift of salvation that God offers, we must believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead (Romans 10:9), repent or turn from our sins, and be baptized (Acts 2:38).  We cannot earn our salvation by good works (Ephesians 2:8-9), we must accept Jesus' work on the cross for our salvation.  Salvation is God's gift to us to be received by faith in baptism.  Jesus is the TRUTH and His salvation is universally true for everyone who believes, no matter where they live.
